Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), working with EIDAIKAKO Co., Ltd., MRC Pylen Co., Ltd. and Toyota Tsusho Corporation, has developed a new floor mat made using plant-based bio-polyethylene (bio-PE) fibre to add to its lineup of proprietary plant-based "Green Plastic" products. The company plans to start production of the new floor mats in the summer of 2012. Bio-PE is a plant-based resin made using sugarcane molasses (a thick syrup produced in the refining of raw sugar). The company has developed the bio-PE fibre for use in floor mat piling with an eye toward reducing usage of petroleum-based plastics and cutting CO2 emissions. As opposed to conventional petroleum-based floor mats, the fibre in this new floor mat has a core-sheath structure in which the bio-PE core is covered with conventional petroleum-based polypropylene (PP) sheath which allows it to meet the high levels of performance demanded of car floor mats, including abrasion and heat resistance. In-house calculations indicate that the new bio-PE fibre floor mat achieves a 15 percent reduction in life-cycle CO2 emissions over a similar mat made using petroleum-based PP fibre. In its efforts to stop global warming and reduce dependence on petroleum, MMC is conducting research and development of a series of proprietary plant-based "Green Plastics" to replace petroleum-based plastics used widely in car parts today. The company's current range of plant-based Green Plastics products includes materials made using liquefied wood-based phenolic resins and interior surface materials which combine PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and cotton fibres. MMC will continue to push forward the development and the commercial application of these and other Green Plastics.

Comment: Did I just pay premium for mid I was pumping gas using this kind of pump - (disregard the "Start" button; the pump in question didn't have one) it was the kind that has 3 hoses, 3 nozzles, and 3 plastic "holders" that hold the nozzles in place until you take the nozzle out of its place and "lift" the plastic holder to let the machine know which type of gas you want. My pump (similar to the first one pictured) had a Regular, Mid-Grade, and Premium hose/nozzle. I placed the nozzle sitting under "Premium" in my car, lifted the plastic lever where the nozzle rested seconds before and then the LCD screen that had displayed the prices for "Regular" and "Mid-Grade" shut off and only the "Premium" price was lit. I began fueling. then I look up and notice that the nozzle in my black christian louboutin platform pumps car is the "middle" hose and the hose directly over "Premium" was sitting under "Mid-Grade"! Meaning the nozzle fueling my car was the nozzle/hose attached above the "Mid-Grade" not "Premium". I quickly glanced over at the other pumps in the station and all the hoses/nozzles were in their correct place but mine was the only one "switched". Since the pump DID charge me for Premium does this then mean that I can hypothetically place the hose/nozzle under Premium in my car but lift the "Regular" lever and let the "Regular" nozzle/hose hang while I pump Premium but pay for Regular? posted by MrBCID to travel transportation (5 answers total) 1 user marked this as a favorite I'm not a gas pump expert, but logic tells me if each grade of gas had a dedicated nozzle, then selecting "premium" and then trying to pump from the "mid-grade" nozzle wouldn't work.
